The Pumpkin Patch

For FHE last Monday, we went to the pumpkin patch for the first time with the boys. McKay loved it and tried picking up all of the pumpkins. Due to me working the night before, I did not get "ready for the day." I was carrying Miles in the ergo and had a blanket over him because there were a ton of mosquitoes. So, no pictures of us but we were there. McKay loved running in the hay maze with the other kids. And there was a massive tractor in the field and McKay was in HEAVEN. Anyone who knows my son knows his obsession with tractors. We were in and out pretty fast but found 2 great pumpkins. McKay gets to learn how to carve pumpkins this year. I love these simple traditions we did growing up that we now get to share with our kids.

Best Brothers

Miles ADORES McKay. When he hears McKay's voice or sees him, he gets so excited. He will arch his head and back to see if he can get a glimpse of his brother. Lately, it's been while Mile's is eating. If McKay talks, Miles pulls off and looks around for McKay. It's cute but starting to get a little annoying because Miles gets so distracted. McKay loves "playing" with Miles now. Playing is in parenthesis because McKay often treats Miles like he is much older. As in tackling him, pulling him out of his bouncer, laying on him, trying to pick him up. Uh, ya. I can't leave McKay alone with him. But Miles usually never makes a peep. He is such a good sport. Unless McKay is really being too rough with him, he usually just "goes with the flow." He is so easy-going. Really, such an angel baby. I adore him. I adore both of my boys.
McKay has figured out how to work our smart-phones. Actually, he had them figured out months ago. He watches Mickey Mouse cartoons, Curious George, Bob the Builder or Sesame Street on Netflix. But only in the mornings....when I want a little extra sleep and McKay is up super early...heaven forbid at 7:30am. One morning I got Miles up, layed him next to McKay and he was entranced.
Happy 5 months baby boy! Aren't those checks TO DIE FOR??? And I get to kiss them all day long!!! We love you Littles to the moon and back!

Miles' face says it all....

My Sugar "Aholic"

McKay loves sugar. Period. Shani claims he is going to be the future poster child for Child Obesity. He never says no to sugar. In fact, ONE BITE of promised ice cream can get him to eat a whole plate of dinner food (we usually give him a few bites worth...). We don't eat candy but we like homemade desserts (and ice cream!). We honestly don't have sugar around that much...except on Sunday's and the occasional batch of cookies I will make up. Oh ya, and how do I get my 27 month old to go poo-poo, aka "yuckies" in the toilet? He gets about 10 chocolate chips. Ya, he loves him some chocolate and they are obviously a good motivator because he has been doing pretty well at going #2 in the toilet as of late.
On a side note, McKay loves to be on the counter and help me cook. He wants to pour ingredients in, hold the beaters, help crack the eggs. I try to be good when I'm not in a huge hurry and let him help whenever he wants to. Along with helping, he likes to "taste" every little ingredient I use. He used to be relentless is asking for "bites" and I would turn around and his hands would be in whatever it was I was making. So now I let him try everything he asks to try. That includes: salt, baking soda/powder, the sugars, flour, spices, buttermilk, Crisco, butter, and cooked meats. He has tried some nasty stuff but I figure it is a good way to help him learn. He is starting to learn what is "mmm, nummy!" and what is "yucky!"
I made chocolate chip cookies the other day (a definite NUMMY!) and I thought he was going to EAT the beater. He didn't stop until all the dough was off. Pretty funny.
