6 Months Old

Miles was 6 months on November 12th. Where does the time go??? Here are his stats:
Weight: 20 lbs. 6 oz. (92%)
Height: 28 inches (92%)
Head: 17.2 in (50%)
His very first taste of food

 Loves baths in the sink

I get a little top heavy when I lean over
I love to smile...and eat!
Some facts about my chubby "Littles":
*Doesn't love baby food. HATES rice cereal so I have been trying to mash up whatever we are eating and give him some of that. Totally opposite of McKay who would eat anything and everything. I want to start making my own food for him. I just need to get in gear and start making it!
*Loves banana's and drinking water out of a big boy cup.
*No teeth yet.
*Can roll over from tummy to back (just learned to do this right around his 6th month mark) but not back to tummy. He has a lot of weight to carry! McKay was late in rolling, crawling and walking. But hey, who says what is the right time, eh?
*He looks HUGE...but McKay was the same weight and one inch taller at his six month appointment. I love his "jowls" and rolls. He is so DIVINE and I love kissing and "eating" him! MMM!
*He is so happy and "chill." He is pretty content and ADORES McKay. He is always looking for McKay and if he hears his voice, he is craning his neck to find him.
*Has found out what it means to be the "younger" brother. He gets picked on, sat on and all his toys usually get taken away. He is patient though...especially because it means his big brother is in the room with him. I hope and pray McKay can be a good example and always look out for his younger brother/siblings.
*Only breast fed. I cherish my time with him because he doesn't like to snuggle unless he is eating. From what I can remember, McKay was the exact opposite. He will still snuggle with us.
*Goes to bed between 7:00-7:30pm. Wakes up to eat once between 4:45-5:30am, goes back to sleep and is up around 7:45-8:00am. He takes 2 naps during the day for a few hours.
Little Angel, we love you SO MUCH! You have blessed our lives and are so thankful you are a part of our family!

Halloween 2012

Halloween is such a different story when you have kids. I have to admit, my mom always made the holidays special but we LOVED Halloween around our house and had many traditions. As I have my own kids now, I want to pass those traditions on to my family. Come to find out, my mom is amazing and worked so hard to make Halloween awesome. I didn't realize it until I tried following in her foot steps. I must admit, I feel some pressure to do things as well as she did. That pressure comes from myself but I am thankful she cared and I hope my kids will know I cared and appreciate it one day too! I didn't take a ton of pictures. I'm not that good at always remembering a camera but here are a few pictures we took.
McKay really got into carving pumpkins this year. He went to bed before the finished product but enjoyed scooping seeds!
These are the fussiest sugar cookies ever to make but they are delicious and a big part of my childhood!
Halloween isn't complete without pumpkin looking buttermilk pancakes, complete with chocolate chip faces. McKay loved these...obviously.
McKay the Pirate. My mom never bought Halloween costumes. Everything we ever wore were from her creative ideas and things and clothes we had at home. This whole outfit except the shirt was stuff she had in her Halloween collection that we wore as kids.
Not our best picture but the only one we got. Orange overload! We had our traditional chili dinner at my parent's house the night of Halloween. McKay went trick-or-treating to a few of the neighbor's houses but then came back to my parents and had more fun passing out candy to the kids. I love this time of year and am so grateful for the many memories that were and will be created!

The Pumpkin Patch

For FHE last Monday, we went to the pumpkin patch for the first time with the boys. McKay loved it and tried picking up all of the pumpkins. Due to me working the night before, I did not get "ready for the day." I was carrying Miles in the ergo and had a blanket over him because there were a ton of mosquitoes. So, no pictures of us but we were there. McKay loved running in the hay maze with the other kids. And there was a massive tractor in the field and McKay was in HEAVEN. Anyone who knows my son knows his obsession with tractors. We were in and out pretty fast but found 2 great pumpkins. McKay gets to learn how to carve pumpkins this year. I love these simple traditions we did growing up that we now get to share with our kids.

Best Brothers

Miles ADORES McKay. When he hears McKay's voice or sees him, he gets so excited. He will arch his head and back to see if he can get a glimpse of his brother. Lately, it's been while Mile's is eating. If McKay talks, Miles pulls off and looks around for McKay. It's cute but starting to get a little annoying because Miles gets so distracted. McKay loves "playing" with Miles now. Playing is in parenthesis because McKay often treats Miles like he is much older. As in tackling him, pulling him out of his bouncer, laying on him, trying to pick him up. Uh, ya. I can't leave McKay alone with him. But Miles usually never makes a peep. He is such a good sport. Unless McKay is really being too rough with him, he usually just "goes with the flow." He is so easy-going. Really, such an angel baby. I adore him. I adore both of my boys.
McKay has figured out how to work our smart-phones. Actually, he had them figured out months ago. He watches Mickey Mouse cartoons, Curious George, Bob the Builder or Sesame Street on Netflix. But only in the mornings....when I want a little extra sleep and McKay is up super early...heaven forbid at 7:30am. One morning I got Miles up, layed him next to McKay and he was entranced.
Happy 5 months baby boy! Aren't those checks TO DIE FOR??? And I get to kiss them all day long!!! We love you Littles to the moon and back!

Miles' face says it all....

My Sugar "Aholic"

McKay loves sugar. Period. Shani claims he is going to be the future poster child for Child Obesity. He never says no to sugar. In fact, ONE BITE of promised ice cream can get him to eat a whole plate of dinner food (we usually give him a few bites worth...). We don't eat candy but we like homemade desserts (and ice cream!). We honestly don't have sugar around that much...except on Sunday's and the occasional batch of cookies I will make up. Oh ya, and how do I get my 27 month old to go poo-poo, aka "yuckies" in the toilet? He gets about 10 chocolate chips. Ya, he loves him some chocolate and they are obviously a good motivator because he has been doing pretty well at going #2 in the toilet as of late.
On a side note, McKay loves to be on the counter and help me cook. He wants to pour ingredients in, hold the beaters, help crack the eggs. I try to be good when I'm not in a huge hurry and let him help whenever he wants to. Along with helping, he likes to "taste" every little ingredient I use. He used to be relentless is asking for "bites" and I would turn around and his hands would be in whatever it was I was making. So now I let him try everything he asks to try. That includes: salt, baking soda/powder, the sugars, flour, spices, buttermilk, Crisco, butter, and cooked meats. He has tried some nasty stuff but I figure it is a good way to help him learn. He is starting to learn what is "mmm, nummy!" and what is "yucky!"
I made chocolate chip cookies the other day (a definite NUMMY!) and I thought he was going to EAT the beater. He didn't stop until all the dough was off. Pretty funny.
