Halloween is such a different story when you have kids. I have to admit, my mom always made the holidays special but we LOVED Halloween around our house and had many traditions. As I have my own kids now, I want to pass those traditions on to my family. Come to find out, my mom is amazing and worked so hard to make Halloween awesome. I didn't realize it until I tried following in her foot steps. I must admit, I feel some pressure to do things as well as she did. That pressure comes from myself but I am thankful she cared and I hope my kids will know I cared and appreciate it one day too! I didn't take a ton of pictures. I'm not that good at always remembering a camera but here are a few pictures we took.
McKay really got into carving pumpkins this year. He went to bed before the finished product but enjoyed scooping seeds!
These are the fussiest sugar cookies ever to make but they are delicious and a big part of my childhood!
Halloween isn't complete without pumpkin looking buttermilk pancakes, complete with chocolate chip faces. McKay loved these...obviously.
McKay the Pirate. My mom never bought Halloween costumes. Everything we ever wore were from her creative ideas and things and clothes we had at home. This whole outfit except the shirt was stuff she had in her Halloween collection that we wore as kids.
Not our best picture but the only one we got. Orange overload! We had our traditional chili dinner at my parent's house the night of Halloween. McKay went trick-or-treating to a few of the neighbor's houses but then came back to my parents and had more fun passing out candy to the kids. I love this time of year and am so grateful for the many memories that were and will be created!
